Jason Schmidt

Name: Jason Schmidt
Concept: CI Agent with a perception-altering "buddy".
Faction: Chaos Insurgency
Physical Health: 7
Mental Health: 7
XP:

Skills (Spend 10 points among any number of skills, to a maximum of 5 per skill. The skills can be anything. Please have a minimum of three skills.)

Gabriel: 5 (Jason is inhabited by an invisible, incorporeal entity that goes by the name of Gabriel. Said entity is capable of altering Jason's perception of the world around him, limited primarily by its imagination. Gabriel has extensive, in-depth perception of the area roughly fifty meters around Jason [excluding what's behind the House's doors], including the thoughts of those inside it. He may or may not choose to share this information with Jason.)
Secret Agent: 3 (Persuasion [including interrogation], stealth, armed & unarmed combat, infiltration, interrogation resistance, dealing with restraints and imprisonment)
Chef: 3 (Food preparation, knowledge of food and kitchens)

Inventory

Weapons: (Start with one, +1 item)

  • Silenced Pistol — +1 to Secret Agent: The Chaos Insurgency gave Jason a pistol that, due the use of anomalous materials (probably memetics or something), prevents sound waves over 100 dB from propagating within 1 cm of its surface. It makes no noise during firing, although pulling the trigger, loading, and unloading make the normal amount of noise.

Equipment: (Same goes here)

  • Skillet — +1 to Chef: Cast-iron skillet with the CI logo embossed. Stolen from one of the kitchens at their main facility so he could practice on his off hours.

Keep in mind, you have to be able to apply an item to a situation in order to get the bonus.
Perks (Perks are earned)

Hooks (Hooks are character flaws or weaknesses, essentially the opposite of Perks. Add 1 extra skill point if your character has a Hook. Starting character may take only one Hook.)

  • Unreliable Information: Gabriel has fun fucking around with Jason and generally hindering him outside of life-or-death situations. Any Gabriel roll may be made to fail as explained by Gabriel's dickishness outside of situations where it would endanger Jason (or Gabriel). Alternatively, he can be made to effectively hallucinate anything that might amuse Gabriel.

History (Write a short blurb reminding us who your character is and how they got here.)
Born in a Vancouver suburb in 1971, aspired to become a chef of some sort; he never entirely gave up that wish. Gabriel led a relatively normal life until he was 19, when he woke with an obnoxious telepath bound to him. Gabriel has refused to divulge any of the details relating to their meeting or to its own exact nature, although it refers to itself as a spirit and will make cryptic allusions to conversing with other spirits.

After word got out about Jason's tendency to receive unwanted information, he was contained by the SCP Foundation, who classified him as SCP-2484 and ran a series of unpleasant, invasive tests that had a very real chance of separating Jason and Gabriel. Jason was busted out of Foundation custody during a raid in late 1992, and successfully recruited as an agent. He underwent a program to train him as a field operative, and given the tools to do so. Operated in the field for seven years before being lost in the house; he has been catapulted 13 years into the future.

What does your character fear?
Being lost, cornered, or ridiculed. Also, the Foundation. Gabriel also fears the Foundation, more so than Jason does.

What are your character's goals?
Get a seat of power and security when the CI's goals for world domination come to fruition. Failing that, learn how to cook Thai food. Gabriel's content with its situation.

If your character could be an animal, which one would it be?
Jason would be a viper, because they bite shit and don't afraid of anything. Also slithering would be hella cool. Gabriel has no desire to be a tangible entity.

What is your character's dearest wish?
Jason wants to be well-respected and accepted, and to have Gabriel not be such a dick. Gabriel simply wishes to mess with Jason further.

Why is your character here?
Chaos Insurgency sent Jason in there to look for potentially exploitable artifacts and anomalies. Door closed behind him, got separated from his team. Gabriel, as usual, was along for the ride.

If your character had a tattoo, or another one, what would it be?
Jason would have one of a steampunk bird of some sort. Gabriel has no skin.

If your character could have any superpower, what would it be?
Shapeshifting, or the ability to fly. Gabriel is sort of a superpower in and of himself, but he's hardly a reliable source, so he doesn't count.

What is your character's greatest weakness?
For Jason, Gabriel, when they're at odds. For Gabriel, his general laziness and impulsiveness.

What is your character's greatest strength?
For Jason, Gabriel, when they're working towards a common goal. For Gabriel, it would be his extensive knowledge of the world around him and quick-thinking.

Miscellaneous:
Gabriel is primarily concerned with messing with Jason, and with his welfare [if only to continue to have the opportunity for the former]. Jason and Gabriel could be described as "frienemies" on a good day. Gabriel communicates with Jason telepathically. Jason has no control whatsoever over the changes Gabriel makes to his perception.

Some quick examples of a cooperative Gabriel's capabilities would include amplifying Jason's senses, providing him the inner workings of objects (i.e. X-ray vision), showing him what people are thinking or feeling, giving him "alternate" (i.e. thermal, UV, topographic, pH readings) views of things.

Some quick examples of an uncooperative Gabriel's capabilities would include dulling or partially blocking Jason's senses, inducing hallucinations, and giving him false readings on a person's thoughts.

Gabriel's perception is restricted to what is physically there, any electromagnetic fields or currents that exist there, any light being emitted, and the minds of sentient beings. Its "resolution" is 0.1 mm; anything smaller than that is too small for it to notice. The exception to this is that it can also detect the presence of chemicals with roughly the same skill as a dog. It can't see magic, Tamlin-style or otherwise.

Jason is 28 years old with grey eyes and black hair worn short, and an average build. 5'10", reasonably muscular. Speaks with a Canadian accent that I might choose to type out, but probably won't.
