Background:

Born the only son to a middle-class German family, Wilfred didn't have many opportunities for extraordinary schooling and great jobs. Tired of going nowhere in life, Wilfred had hoped that the war would be an easy way to earn glory even if he only stayed off in the sidelines. After his second year of service, Wilfred's personality had notably weakened.

Wilfred was later assigned to the Battle of Husiatyn Woods (SCP-186) . Early on in his assignment, Wilfred was chosen to be one of several soldiers injected with a 'natural armor serum'. Wilfred was the only one who survived without grotesque deformities, and was later told his skin had developed a layer of dense chitin (similar in structure to the exoskeleton of an 'ironclad' beetle) that would, in theory, protect him from most conventional weaponry.

Following an ambush, of which he was the only survivor, moments before Wilfred would've been killed he was hit with a blue beam of light. When he awoke he was no longer in the woods, but on a floor of bronze.

Alone in this strange place, and not having been meant to survive, Wilfred later grew ashamed of his 'armor' and reasons for going to war. Despite many failed attempts at escaping, Wilfred never gave up trying to go back to the fight and kill the true monster there : Dr.Durand.
Given time to reflect on his situation, Wilfred concluded that he had survived by becoming an abomination. However, his vengeance on the war that should've never been was stalled in the face of a new and more unpredictable enemy, The House.
