Wat stands at about 5'9" and has a physical build best described as "uninspiring", carrying a few extra pounds but otherwise unremarkable. He has light brown neck-length hair and glasses, and typically wears a red/white checked shirt and khaki trousers under his standard-issue white lab coat. He carries a service handgun on his waist, but has never used it in anger and isn't a very good shot.

Junior Researcher Wat Townsend joined the Foundation from a small British university, having been recruited before graduation on the recommendation of an existing agent based on his unusual affinity for the unexplained. Never an overly bright researcher, he makes up for his average intellect with a thorough understanding of many SCPs and an almost frightening dedication to his work: Mere questions of ethics or morality rarely interfere, and no price is too steep if it leads to him learning more about the unknown. While often beneficial in the everyday work of a Foundation researcher, this can be a source of consternation for his superiors. After a particularly messy incident involving SCP-294 and many, many 'cups of D-Class', the Ethics Committee thought it best that Junior Researcher Townsend be indefinitely reassigned to Site 67, the "Tamlin House".
