Background:

Eons ago, the great beast Typhon was cast down one last time by Zeus and sealed underneath Mt Etna. Sometimes he would pierce a hole through his chthonic prison, casting his ruin upon the countryside; others would cower during these episodes, fleeing the wrath of an unseen monster.

But once, a nameless, forgotten demigod dropped one of Zeus’ thunderbolts into one of these openings; in a stroke of blind luck, the bolt struck through Typhon’s eye and killed him. But not completely; a piece of Typhon broke off and sealed inside itself, becoming an egg. This egg grew over millennia, hatching in the 1800s; Typhon was reborn in the shape of a human child.

Nigh-immortal and fully aware of everything before his previous death, Typhon crawled out from his prison and looked upon a very different world. The ancient gods either dead or ascendant, he saw an opportunity to claw his way back up and take his rightful seat as ruler of the cosmos. Taking the old thunderbolt that smote him, he began to travel the world, learning of the new peoples- and new creatures- that had appeared while he slept.

Typhon found his way to the Tamlin House while searching for items of power. A trickster spirit appeared to him from an oracle box while he slept. Seeing the potential in the young, dark god, the trickster told him of a wondrous castle filled with ancient power. Typhon immediately awoke and headed to the House, eager to learn its secrets.
