Description:

James is a pale male standing at 5 feet 10 inches. He wears loose clothing and a pitch black overcoat that seems a size too big for him. He is fairly skinny and not very muscular. His hair is snow white and his eyes are a soft green. He is almost never seen without a book of some kind, which he places in his coat pocket when not reading.

Background:

In school, James Monroe had never been anything special. Nobody really cared for him or his twin except themselves and a few close friends. Their parents had left them with their aunt before running off to explore the world. When Aunt Jennifer died, they were left alone with the small inheritance that she had left them, not having children of her own. At the age of 17, James's brother John died on a school trip to Hawaii, swept out to sea by the current and never retrieved. After that, James turned solemn, never speaking out unless asked a question and always reading. One morning on his way across town, James was so immersed in his book that he did not notice that a car had skidded on the winter ice and was sliding toward him rapidly until it was right there. Right before the impact, he blacked out, soon finding himself face-up in a boat before a large, shining castle, with no recollection of how he got there. He then stood up and headed in, hands clenched tightly on the book that was all he had left besides the clothes on his back.
